Lost in America Lost in America is a 1985 film starring Albert Brooks and Julie Hagerty as yuppies David and Linda Howard who are fed up with the corporate lifestyle. They decide to take their savings and head out to see the country in a Winnebago. The plan goes awry when Linda loses everything at a casino in Las Vegas which culminates into a very ugly argument that almost gets David beaten up by an escaped convict. Out of money and with nowhere to go, the couple ends up in Safford, Arizona. Brooks' character makes attempts to land work through a local pharmacy and eventually ends up at an employment agency. Obnoxiously reminded by a counselor about how he gave up a high paying job in advertising, David gets work as a crossing guard and Linda gets work at the local Der Wienersnitzl. A few days into the dream of dropping out of society, they realize that it's better to get back their old lifestyle and agree to move to New York City. They head to New York to look for work again in the corporate world.
