Deep Cover Deep Cover is a 1992 thriller film starring Laurence Fishburne and Jeff Goldblum and directed by Bill Duke. The film is most notable for its use of computer-generated digital effects, which was unheard-of at the time. Many of these effects became the basis for effects in the Matrix, released in 1999. It may be more famous for its theme song of the same name, composed by Dr. Dre and the then-newcomer Snoop Dogg, becoming famous by coining his trademark phrase in the song's chorus: "187 on a undercover cop."
