the process before.

So, there was this car
and a big screen behind it

and the camera being set up
and everything in front of it,

and Hitch just kind of
seemed to be killing time.

and we waited and waited.

what the hell they were waiting for.

Then, finally, his secretary
brought out a little wooden box.

And she set the wooden box
on top of the... the hood of the car.

I was standing to the side, and Hitch
was standing right in front of the car.

And they brought out a telephone,
and everybody just kind of stood there,

and I wondered
what the hell was going on.

And then the phone rang.

He picked up and phone,
and he said, "Yes."

He said, "Right away," or whatever.

And he set the phone in the box.

And he picked up a little,
like, microphone,

and he ripped open his shirt.

And he put the microphone
on his pacemaker,

and what they were doing was
checking his battery in his pacemaker.

And I was a wreck. (Chuckles)

Then he checked his thing,
put it down, picked up the phone.

They said, "Fine." He put it back on.

As he buttoned up his shirt, he said,

"I'm told I'm fine, Mr Devane.
We can continue now."

experience with Hitchcock.
