King Kong is the
Academy Award-winning 2005
remake of the
original 1933 King Kong about a fictional giant ape called
Kong. This 2005 version was
directed by
Peter Jackson,
produced by Jackson and
Fran Walsh, and written by Jackson, Walsh and
Philippa Boyens. The cast includes
Naomi Watts in the role of
Ann Darrow,
Jack Black as
Carl Denham,
Adrien Brody as
Jack Driscoll, and through
performance capture,
Andy Serkis as Kong. Much of the crew had previously worked on Jackson's
Lord of the Rings trilogy, with the exception of the composer
James Newton Howard, who replaced Jackson's
Lord of the Rings collaborator
Howard Shore due to "differing creative aspirations for the score of
King Kong."
