Broadway Danny Rose

Broadway Danny Rose is a 1984 Academy Award-nominated film written, directed by and starring Woody Allen. The plot concerns a hapless talent manager who, by helping a client, gets dragged into a love triangle involving the mob. Mia Farrow costars. The story is told in flashback, as an anecdote shared amongst a group of comedians over lunch at New York's Carnegie Deli. Talent agent "Broadway" Danny Rose (Allen) represents countless incompetent entertainers and one talented one: washed-up lounge singer Lou Canova (Nick Apollo Forte), whose career is on the rebound. Lou is having an affair with a gangster's girlfriend (Farrow), and wants her to accompany him to his big gig at the Waldorf Astoria in front of Milton Berle. At the singer's insistence, Danny Rose masquerades as Farrow's boyfriend to divert attention from the affair. However, Rose is unaware that she is also dating the gangster; this forces Allen and Farrow to flee from the Mafia and lands them in a number of comical situations.
